Cyprus eCommerce businesses have been preparing for Google Shopping Ads. But as of October 2026, they still aren’t officially available as a Shopping Ads target market. So what exactly is happening?
For online retailers in Cyprus, Google Shopping Ads could be one of the most significant additions to the local digital advertising landscape.
Instead of displaying only a traditional text search ad, Shopping Ads allow retailers to showcase individual products directly within Google’s ecosystem — including the product image, title, price and retailer.
For an eCommerce market like Cyprus, that’s a pretty meaningful development.
Following expectations surrounding their introduction to Cyprus, businesses and agencies have started preparing Merchant Center accounts and product feeds.
Yet if you’ve been searching Google in Cyprus wondering where all the Shopping Ads are, you’re not missing anything.
They still haven’t been officially activated for Cyprus.
Is Google Shopping Available in Cyprus?
As of 4 October 2026, Google’s official Merchant Center documentation does not list Cyprus as a supported target country for Shopping Ads.
Countries such as Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and many others appear on Google’s supported-country list.
Cyprus does not. Google Help
Google’s own documentation explains that when a submitted target country isn’t supported, products aren’t eligible to be shown to customers through the relevant Shopping functionality. Google Help
So despite preparations surrounding the expected rollout, the current position is fairly simple:
Google Shopping Ads are not yet officially supported for Cyprus as a target market.
Then Why Can Cyprus Appear in Google Merchant Center?
This is where things get confusing.
Cyprus already appears within parts of Google’s Merchant Center infrastructure.
Google’s documentation for product synchronisation, for example, lists:
Cyprus — CY
with:
Greek — English
as supported languages. Google Help
That can understandably give merchants the impression that Cyprus is already fully supported.
But Merchant Center country/language support and Shopping Ads target-country availability are not necessarily the same thing.
Merchant Center is the infrastructure businesses use to submit and manage product information across Google’s commerce ecosystem.
Shopping Ads are a specific advertising destination within that ecosystem.
So seeing Cyprus available somewhere within Merchant Center doesn’t automatically mean paid Shopping campaigns can start serving in Cyprus.
What Are Cyprus Merchants Seeing?
There have already been reports from merchants preparing for the Cyprus rollout.
In June 2026, a discussion in Google’s Merchant Center Community described products configured for Cyprus showing:
“Missing CSS program requirements”
“Pending initial review”
and:
“Not serving in CY”. Google Help
Another merchant reported having already prepared Merchant Center and Shopping campaigns for Cyprus and asked whether the campaigns would automatically begin serving once Cyprus was “unlocked.” Google Help
The response from a Google Diamond Product Expert was essentially that the community could not provide a launch date and merchants should monitor Google’s official supported-country documentation for changes. Google Help
That last point matters.
The CSS Question
There’s another technical layer involved: Comparison Shopping Services (CSS).
Within the European Shopping ecosystem, CSS providers play an important role in how merchants participate in Shopping advertising.
Google’s current CSS documentation lists supported programme countries including:
Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Cyprus is currently absent from that list. Google Help
That appears to explain at least some of the eligibility issues merchants have encountered while preparing Cyprus product feeds.
However, we shouldn’t interpret that as proof of exactly why Google hasn’t launched Shopping Ads in Cyprus yet.
Google has not publicly documented a specific reason for the current lack of Cyprus Shopping Ads support.
Anything beyond that would be speculation.
So Has Google Shopping Been Delayed?
This needs a little nuance.
There has been industry discussion and expectation around Shopping Ads becoming available in Cyprus, including references to an expected 2026 rollout.
However, Google’s current official Merchant Center documentation still doesn’t show Cyprus as supported, and its Merchant Center announcement history doesn’t currently provide an official Cyprus activation notice. Google Help
Therefore, rather than relying on anticipated dates, we’d recommend businesses use Google’s supported-country documentation as the source of truth.
When Cyprus / CY appears there as a supported Shopping Ads market, that’s the meaningful change to watch.
Should Cyprus eCommerce Businesses Wait?
Wait to advertise?
Yes.
Wait to prepare?
No.
For businesses operating an eShop in Cyprus, there’s quite a bit that can be done before Shopping Ads officially become available.
1. Set Up Google Merchant Center
Your Merchant Center account will become the central source Google uses to understand your products.
Businesses should ensure their company information, website and product sources are configured correctly.
2. Improve Product Data
A Shopping campaign is heavily dependent on the quality of its product feed.
That means preparing accurate:
- Product titles
- Product descriptions
- Pricing
- Availability
- GTINs
- Brands
- Product categories
- Images
- URLs
Poor product data won’t magically become good advertising just because Google puts a nice shopping card around it.
3. Connect Your eShop and Product Feed
For WooCommerce retailers, product information should ideally sync automatically with Merchant Center rather than requiring constant manual uploads.
That becomes particularly important for businesses with large catalogues or frequently changing:
stock, pricing, promotions and products.
4. Prepare Conversion Tracking
Being able to run Shopping Ads isn’t particularly useful if you can’t accurately measure whether they generate revenue.
Google Ads and GA4 purchase tracking should therefore be configured correctly before campaigns launch.
For eCommerce, the important metrics won’t simply be impressions and clicks.
They’ll be:
Revenue. ROAS. Cost per purchase. Conversion rate. Average order value.
That’s where the grown-up conversation starts.
Why Google Shopping Could Matter for Cyprus eCommerce
Traditional Google Search Ads are primarily text-based.
Shopping Ads introduce the actual product into the search experience.
A customer searching for a particular product could potentially see competing products together with their:
image + price + retailer
before visiting an eShop.
That creates a particularly strong advertising format for sectors such as:
- Electronics
- Fashion
- Home & garden
- Beauty
- Baby products
- Sports
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Automotive accessories
- General retail
For Cyprus retailers already investing heavily in Google Search and Performance Max, proper Shopping availability could create another significant opportunity to connect product catalogues directly with high-intent searches.
What Should Businesses Do Now?
The sensible strategy isn’t to sit around refreshing Google Ads every morning.
It’s to get the infrastructure ready.
For eCommerce businesses, that means preparing:
eShop → Product Feed → Merchant Center → Google Ads → Conversion Tracking
Once Cyprus officially becomes supported, businesses with clean product data and established tracking will be in a much stronger position to start testing campaigns quickly.
At OS3 Digital, we’re monitoring Google’s official documentation and preparing our eCommerce clients’ infrastructure for the introduction of Google Shopping Ads in Cyprus.
Once availability changes, the important question won’t simply be:
“Can we run Shopping Ads?”
It will be:
“Can we make them profitable?”
And that’s a rather more interesting question.
